Still, these were the prime times of the evolution of historical boots. Footwear became much more diversified, and first heels started to appear.

Also, people started to look at footwear not only from the practical side, but also from the perspective of fashion. Tips of medieval shoes were often lengthened and curled, giving a shoe more sophisticated look. Depending on the owner's wealthiness, medieval shoes could be decorated in various ways.

How to choose medieval shoes suitable to my needs?

Depending on individual needs, preferences and social status, medieval shoes (like other clothing) could vary in many ways. Knights, as people often traveling, preferred more stable and protective high lace-up medieval boots. For everyday routine, under-the ankle or over-the ankle medieval shoes were good enough.

When it comes to ladies, they often wore low shoes with buckles or lace-up shoes. Wealthier women preferred leather medieval shoes with decorative cut-outs or lengthened tips.
